Sarah Waters is a 4th generation High Desert native who was born and raised here in Hesperia, Ca. As a child her parents instilled the importance of giving back to the community through volunteering with the local VFW to send care packages regularly to our soldiers overseas. After graduating from Sultana High School she attended Cal State Fullerton and majored in Theatre Arts. While attending college she had the exciting experience of working as a Disney princess at the Disneyland resort and began working in the entertainment industry guest staring in television shows such as "24", The New Adventures of Old Christine, Joey, and the soap opera Passions. While at the Disneyland Resort her desire to work closely with charities continued to grow as she spent two years working closely with the Make a Wish Foundation. She decided to walk away from acting to become a mother of three beautiful children ages 5, 10 and 11 but continues to volunteer her time acting in and working with community theatre productions here locally. Today she works as a Business Development Officer for Stewart Title and, along with her husband, owns Desert Barn Brewery and Grill. In the past 7 years she has worked closely with the local real estate community in local outreach programs and has held numerous fund raiser events at her brewery to support The Family Assistance Program, Loma Linda Medical Hospital, ovarian cancer research and local children's sporting programs. She's grateful for the opportunity to run for HD Diva and hopes to raise a large amount of money and awareness for The Family Assistance Program combating human trafficking.
Victor Valley Chamber of Commerce
Charity: A Better Way
Ruby Hume is a California native that has resided in the High Desert for over 3 years. Her passion for helping others led her to a career with the Victor Valley Chamber of Commerce. Over the past two years Ruby has promoted the importance of community involvement and Chamber membership and in doing so inspired 100 new members to join in the last year! She then took her success one step further and in August of 2018 she was honored to attend the first phase of a 3 year commitment to completing and graduating from the Western Association of Chamber Executives premier organization program (W.A.C.E.). In return Ruby plans to pass on the knowledge and information she learns to others in an effort to assist in the communities growth and prosperity. The main drive behind Ruby’s overall career and life successes is her 13 year old son Alex. Alex is and continues to be Ruby’s greatest life accomplishment and because of him she fully dedicates herself to all that she does. Ruby’s day begins and ends with the wellbeing of others in mind. It is because of this mentality that she is able to provide to others a loving heart that cares, an ear that listens, and helping hand to those in need. At the end of the day having made a difference to others is what fills Ruby’s life with joy and peace.
Charity: Rockin' Our Disabilities Foundation
Ziphora Dominguez grew up with a dedication and love for her local High Desert community. She began volunteering at local events at the age of thirteen. This sparked an interest in her which lead to a one-year internship for the High Desert Hispanic Chamber of Commerce at the young age of fifteen. That is when she realized she enjoyed being around the people of the community and helping others. Once her internship came to an end she pursued a job in the marketing sector of a local, well known, car dealership (Victorville Motors); whose goal was to give back to the community through their various programs. With a major in Communications, Ziphora found the various business marketing strategies very appealing and decided it was time for her to experience and gain knowledge of the marketing side of a different industry, in this case it was with Johnson Construction. She now proudly represents Desert Dental Group and Smiles West in all their marketing and community work. As her knowledge of outreach and marketing rose, at the age of 18, Ziphora was asked to obtain the secretary role of two boards, The High Desert Hispanic Foundation and The Association of Health Organization Entrepreneurs (T.A.H.O.E.). She is constantly looking to gain knowledge from the organizations she is a part of and apply it to the community. Her goal in life is to spread knowledge, love and make a difference in the lives she meets. Ziphora has had a heart for those less fortunate. As she grew with a twin brother who had a mild disability and an autistic cousin, she felt the need to make not just their lives, but those with disabilities, shine and give them a sense of importance; which is why she became thrilled when she found the Rock’n Our Disabilities Foundation whose mission is to “Help make the world around us a better, happier place”. Since finding this organization, she keeps up to date on all events hosted and refers those with families of disabilities to become involved. Help her make a difference in other’s lives by purchasing a raffle ticket. The proceeds go to the Rock’n Our Disabilities Foundation. It also, enters you in for a chance to win one of three visa gifts cards! All donations are greatly appreciated.
